Back down to 19, had been as low as 16  but clouds bumped it back to 21 a few hrs ago but they cleared out and its 19 now.....we technically only hit 32 at PGV yesterday for a high so we havent been above freezing here since around 8-10 pm Wed night....already the creeks and swamp bottoms are frozen over and even the bigger ponds and river had ice forming on the edges....by this time next week they could be totally froze over.

RAH on the cold:

At the surface, Arctic high pressure and associated frigid nnely low
level flow will have already become established over cntl NC on Sun,
with projected low level thickness values around or slightly lower
than those of this past Thu, when high temperatures ranged from mid-
upr 20s north to lwr to mid 30s south. As such, similar temperatures
will be forecast for Sun, which is about a category or so below
guidance.

If that weren`t cold enough, a reinforcing Arctic boundary analyzed
this morning from a frontal wave over MI, then wwd and nwwd to the
Intermountain West, will collapse east of the cntl Appalachians late
Sun and Sun night. The passage of this feature will drive another
nly surge of Arctic air into cntl NC, with low level thickness
values forecast to nadir in the 1230s north to 1240s south by 12Z
Mon. The (albeit limited) occurrence of such thicknesses during the
past 40-50 years resulted in low temperatures in the single digits
to lwr teens. The colder ECMWF MOS temperatures, relative to a
category or two less-cold ones indicated by the MAV and MET, are
preferred, with lows between 9 and 14 degrees. These may ultimately
prove too high over portions of the Piedmont, which may be closer to
5-10 degrees above zero.

Damn, this is brutal for southerners.  Folks up north laugh but they overlook building codes for insulation.  Heat pumps already working overtime at 26°.  Fully expect to see some 12's° tonight around the area and that is without a snowpack.  Hard to do around here.

I'd kill for a nice flizzard to go with this.  Aint gonna happen.

Man it just feels like snow weather out there. 33/22 and full cloud canopy. It looks and feels like it could snow at anytime, but nothing  radar. My pressure has dropped a notch this afternoon.

Man it does feel like snow. Low clouds and sitting at 29. Awesome day which could have been better with some snow :)

Down to 31. My dew point reader must be off b/c it says 17 but all the maps around me show single digets to below zero. But I can almost SEE the snow that isn't falling out there from this cloud deck. What I wouldn't give for a couple inches of QPF!!!
