HGR now up to +4.0 mean temp for December.  The many model forecasts showing much below temps the past few weeks have not verified.  Interested to see what this week can do to reduce the departure.  MRB is + 2.9

Maybe that will bode well for us over the next week as the PV and SER go to WAR.

I only found 5 years (of the last 90) with less precip in Nov and Dec at Martinsburg than this year so far.  And unless 0.80”+ of liquid falls in the next week, this year will remain at 6th driest.

2001- 2.79”

1958- 2.76”

1981- 2.75”

1971- 2.75”

1946- 2.75”

2017- 1.96”

1976- 1.86"

1960- 1.83"

1955- 1.71"

1965- 1.46"

1998- 1.00"

The bottom four years on the list finished above normal for Jan-Feb.  the remaining years on the list remained below normal the rest of the winter.

The bottom four years on the list ended above normal for the following Jan-Feb, but the rest of the years remained below normal for precip the rest of the winter.

Great research.  Interesting that the bottom four turned around, and that the rest didn't.  Since this year is #6, safe to say we can expect more of the same.

I went below 32°F at 10:30am yesterday on the 25th and dropped below 30°F at 2:30pm here in Clarksburg. Should be interesting to see how long we can stay  below freezing and also not rise out of the 20s. Saturday is the only real chance in the next 8 days and, frankly, I just don’t see that happening.  Nice cold stretch coming up.

Potential winter commuting hazard for the Baltimore and
Washington Metro areas Wednesday morning...

There is a potential for hazardous commuting conditions for the
Wednesday morning commute. A period of snow is possible (a 30
percent chance) Wednesday morning across the Baltimore /
Washington Metro areas with less than an inch accumulation on
area roads.

If this threat does materialize during the Wednesday morning
rush-hour, many roads could quickly turn icy. This could lead to
dangerous traveling conditions, multiple accidents, and extensive
delays.

If commuting Wednesday morning, be aware of the possibility of
significant travel disruptions. Plan ahead by allowing for extra
travel time, and consider using public transportation and telework
options.

Stay tuned for updates on this potential winter weather episode.

You can't compare Mount das to 99% of the rest of us. Unfair. You have the same climo as Reading,  PA. You have snowcover that sustains itself on frozen glacier ground. Every year I see your pics and shake my head. Im mean, good for you!!! But it just hurts sometimes....waaaaa...
