entire run of the GFS OP is suffering from a severe case of feedback - the upper air pattern of the OP is in disagreement with its ensembles again as was the case in earlier runs …

It might be too drastic a cut off for the coast, but the amounts aren't too dissimilar from the Millenium storm.

Parts of N NJ and Eastern PA got close to 30" in that, while the south shore of Long Island got 12-16" as long as you were west of Islip.

GFS run through 384 is even wackier. Basically 2 HECS's in a row within 5 days of each other for places NW of New York City

That 42 inch mark in NE PA, is very close to the place I go to in the Poconos, and that 29 in SW Long Island is where I am right now :P Let's see how close these numbers get to verifying lol.

Where is the max of 45.7 inches located?

I’ll take my foot and 30” at my ski house in southern Vermont!

I’d call that the PB fail storm, as in central jersey sees its opposite feb 10.

What would piss you off more... Being on the wrong side the R/S line with epic amounts falling on the snow side or being fringed?

Lucky for us we got hit twice after that storm, it soothed over some of the hurt from getting fringed by the first one.

Looks like pretty close to the 42 inch mark. Hard to tell, but it looks like the deepest purple is there.

Thats gonna be me if this happens lol.. Im on a flight to MIA the morning of the 28th

Oh that sucks, how long will you be gone?

That's why I'm trying to figure out which place I should be at for this storm should it happen.

I guess it's too far out to even plan a trip around this.

Yeah my place in the Poconos is on the southwest edge of that (Carbon county) so it looks like the deepest part should be in the county just to the NE of there.

Yeah I wouldn't plan a trip around the 384hr GFS, but I think this will be an active and interesting period

Season's Greetings :santa:

These long outlook snow maps never verify.

best guess is 35 percent of the total.

Working on your tan out there?

A little...lol

Actually, I'm visiting my mom and analyzing her health condition. She could really use a family member out here to help her with some things that are getting difficult for her to do such as getting to doctors appointments, running errands, and general upkeep on the house. I'm contemplating making a move out here as coming east wouldn't be good for her, and there's no way I'd put her in a nursing home or assisted living facility unless I was here to make sure they treated her well.

Of course I like the climate as well...

Oh, I'm sorry :(  Glad that you can be with her for Christmas and possibly beyond.  The climate there is probably better for her too.  There's a reason most of us move to places like that when we get older.

Wow, Utqiagvik (Barrow), Alaska reached 33 deg F today, a record high for the winter solstice. The northernmost city in the US has an average high of -3 deg F for Dec. 21.

I was just about to post that, I couldn't believe the temp when I saw it.

The sea ice coverage is equally alarming.
