Inudaw
Yea this storm we are about to have is definitely a mountain favored storm. We turn toward the next threat of hope it effects areas further east for the state. Good luck western areas. ^^

Just not our storm. Hopefully we cash in on the next one
JB Fins
Yeah, beggars cannot be choosers. Congrats I-81 for sure. Did not expect much from the winter anyhow. Give me enough snow for a fire on Sunday with some Screwball peanut butter bourbon and football on the tube and I will muddle through.

Future still looks good though so I’ll remain hopeful. We've already beat last year haven't we? didn't we get less than 1.5" last year? Nevermind - that was Winter 19/
Sernest14
good news with the models is it's a brief transition to rain followed by dry slot so we get the initial 3-5/6" thump and brief rain.

RVASnowLover
I could see where we get some snow and lots of sleet before a little rain and then dry slot. CAD tends to stick around longer than models predict.
RVASnowLover
I would think the Winter Storm Watch will be come an advisory here. Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think Sunday will meet winter storm warning criteria.
JB Fins
I would have to agree. This feels, as they referenced in the DC centric main thread, I-95 blowback induced.
RVASnowLover
A little early to be looking at the mesos but the 18z NAM gives us a decent amount of freezing rain. Something to watch
eaglesin2011
Will be interesting to see how much actual snow we get around here... The sooner it gets here the better. Probably will be a sleet fest for a few hours let's just hope it dosnt start that way .. Definitely gonna be a crazy few hours of weather .. snow / sleet rain /wind .. Definitely could easily over preform (but most likely will be washed away) I was never in on this one at all from the beginning.. Hopefully this is the set up something bigger down the road / maybe around late next weekend or shortly after (at least the cold will be locked in a bit more then)
RVASnowLover
If the NAM is right then we’re looking at a good ice event here

Models have been basically saying, it won't be able to drop down enough to have enough reinforcing cold air pulled down into the storm in time & phase father southeast.. So, it's why the models are looking so strange with the path & why they are showing more warm air aloft being pulled in and ending up father west...
eaglesin2011
Next weekend looking better, cold air definitely not looking to be the problem... We will see . Hopefully power stays on for this storm... Looks the winds may become the big story when it really wraps up. Gonna be a crazy few hours from 10-am to around 3ish around here tomorrow.. Then wind into Monday

eaglesin2011
Front end could definitely over preform, the sooner it comes in the better for us.... doubting we will get much wrap around down here but the winds could actually help that happen a bit

eaglesin2011
The backside of the storm could be interesting here if the temps can drop back down in time.. We done pretty well with storms in the past, when it's been able to... Looks like the dry air \screw zone, is already trying to form for our area, on radar ..lol

eaglesin2011
Slow/sleet line looks to be around around Lewisville, NC at the moment with my untrained eye.. Gonna be a race now with the warm air racing in from the coast east to west.. Should get some flakes here right about 10Am or shortly after
