Easy to shovel but it's freezing with that wind.

Nah... just my back yard that caused it, I usually do ok in these situations, but that is the fickle nature of LES, live by the sword die by the sword. The clipper has also trended worse, a few ticks north in the track over the past few runs and a little less qpf. Looks like most of SWPA finds themselves in a dry slot for some period of the storm. If it takes a 75 mile further SW trajectory it would probably allow at least Westmoreland and Allegheny counties to make it into the advisory level snows. Seems like there is a narrow corridor of North Eastern Westmoreland and Northern Allegheny that has been on the fringes either to the north or south of a lot of events in the past couple of years. RitualOfTheTrout
7 hours ago, olafminesaw said: Yes please 00z ENS and OPS runs look to be a pretty big improvement in the longer range. Less of a trough in the SW and thus LES SE Ridge response. Still has a gradient \ over running look. Quite a temperature contrast over a relatively short distance will allow pretty much any low pressure area the opportunity to bring some wintry weather, but the risk for a cutter or just being on the wrong side of the fence increases. I expect more volatility than normal as we head into that period, but hopefully we see last nights trend continue.
MikeB_01
Here is the sounding for the "dry slot" of the clipper. Looks relatively saturated to me. I think tonight is a close call event. Im still going with 2-3 and hoping for 4. For what it is worth, the UKie looks the best out of all the model right now for us. Precip shield definitely over SW Pa. RitualOfTheTrout
12z NAM looks a little better, but still setting my expectation pretty low. Maybe 1-2, but totally expect to be able to drive 15 miles North and double that lol

MikeB_01
UKIE is pretty juicy. Almost .4 in qpf according to that. With ratios around 13:1 that’s about 5 in of the white fluffy stuff. Ride that UKie!!.
RitualOfTheTrout
HRRR getting into range, looks like general 1-3, but man the SW corner gets shafted... Hopefully we can pull a storm were our whole area does pretty good without these sharp cutoffs right down the middle.

CoraopolisWx
Good call to expand the WWA. It didn’t hurt, considering the timing of the moderate snow. They can always scale it back later tonight if needed.

jwilson
We've got a dusting so far with this lead band, but I do wonder if this will be most of what we get. Models bearish down here for the remainder. Surprised they expanded the WWA in these parts; I'll honestly be shocked if we hit 2" as our floor. I guess they didn't expect this first wave to develop out ahead of that drier air. At least it adds a little to the totals before the rest of it moves in later. Trying to be positive I guess. These little clipper events don't do much for me but I'll take what I can get at this point.
