RitualOfTheTrout
Radar looking pretty ragged and Temps still in mid 30s here. Going to squeak by if we make the white Christmas I think. The area of differential PVA has moved into the western portions of the CWA late this evening, and as that has occurred the vort lobe has begun to shear out to the north. This has happened relatively rapidly over the past hour or two, and the strongest vertical motion is rapidly translating with it to the north across eastern Ohio toward Lake Erie. The sheared out vort lobe to the south of it will translate across the area through midnight, however precipitation rates will be dropping off as it does so. Thus, from the Pittsburgh area southward in W PA and N WV, QPF and hence snow amounts have been adjusted lower for the overnight. While system snow is looking less impressive for the Pittsburgh area, luckily enough for the White Christmas potential, lapse rates in the wave of the surface front quickly destabilize, and cold advection kicks in. This will result in snow shower activity continuing through morning in a less organized fashion. Thus, it is still reasonable to anticipate an inch in many locations. MikeB_01
Left Youngstown this evening is heavy snow and already an inch on the ground. Arrived home to Lebo with nothing and the roads barely wet. A few flakes flying now though. .

north pgh
Band is about done. Picked up about 1/4 inch in about 20 minutes. A couple wind gusts over 35 or so and one flash of lightning. Sidewalks and roads are wet but a nice white coating on everything else. It looks like another band coming from Ohio into Pa. Merry Christmas everyone and hope you at least wake up to white ground. Maybe we can get some thunder from the next band. Even if we do not get an inch I still consider it a white Christmas as long as the ground is white tomorrow morning.

Burghblizz
I thought that NWS statement before was optimistic. But despite this kinda falling apart, this first band is no joke. Wind driven snow. Not the “peaceful” Christmas Eve Snow scene, but I’ll take it!
north pgh
Wow!! If anyone is still up this band was much stronger than the last.
