Bob Chill
Here's a post for the geeks...I love this stuff...lol H5 vort is swinging through right now. UL winds are basically doing a u-turn right over the region. Look at this panel and look at a radar loop. You can see the precip starting to pull down from the nw in the western areas and precip riding up towards the NE in the eastern areas. Too bad it's not December. This is the part of winter storms I love. High ratio bursts of snow and cold winds blowing it around...
Stormpc
That radar loop is a thing of beauty. Look at the banding sw of DC. Edit: Ok. Not banding but enhancement, at 2nd look.
Bob Chill
Insane WS game. I should be asleep. Best gusts of the night coming through right now but definitely not advisory criteria.
dailylurker
Got chilly out there. Feeling good inside with my woodstove going. Been a fun storm. I'm getting ready for a Jeb walk here soon. Winds are howling as I type this.
Stormpc
I'm dying to go to bed but can't with this game. They will probably go into the 15th or 16th with no more runs scored. Have to tap out soon

You were right. This is a very beautiful thing. It just keeps on pivoting. I have been in heaven, enjoying jebwalk after epic jebwalk here on the MGM Plinth, getting blown all over the place by refreshing north breezes. Jebman
I love this storm. I have been in weather weenie heaven. Just Wow. It is so much fun watching those low clouds scud past the big MGM tower!
Jebman
I think that this winter is going to be interesting, with periods of blocking and storms like tonight's that will be truly EPIC in the deep low sun interval here in Washington after all. We might need those shovels after all in about 5 weeks.......
CAPE
Looks like the last of the showers are rolling through now. Temp is 45. Some wind, but less than expected. Rainfall for the event is 2.05". Thats probably close to the total. Maybe another tenth or so.
smokeybandit
Meh storm. An inch of rain and a few gusts, nothing exciting.

Jebman
Definitive fun storm. If we get high lat blocking this winter, it will be a fun winter. It wont be record breaking but if high lat blocking verified this winter, it would definitely be better than last low sun season for Washington. It was fun watching radar, enjoying the rain and strong winds on the Plinth at MGM last night/this morning. The inbound drive was a total BLAST, got heavy rain, plenty of spray and big trucks and crazy demented superfast drivers zipping past me! Damn that was one hell of a RUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was MUCH MORE than I ever expected or even IMAGINED. It was super fun watching those low clouds scudding past the MGM hotel tower, and watching that wind whip the sheets of rain past it!!!! Plus, it was a major, MAJOR THRILL watching the planes breaking out of the low overcast on their final approaches to Reagan National - THAT accentuated my jebwalks by 99 orders of magnitude! nw baltimore wx
I went to be last night with 1.30". Woke up to gusty winds and rain at 3:30 this morning, then checked the gauge at 6AM and it still said 1.30" Weird.
GramaxRefugee
1.33 at last night's obs, then another .15 indicated at wake up. Significant number of trash/recycle bins knocked over, but I can't decide if it was the gusts or just some pre-Halloween pranksters. (Seems unlikely they'd be out in that wx). All the white pine areas were heavily littered with needles, as if it had snowed needles.

poolz1
2.11" total. Gusts were not that impressive but I do live a pretty protected area. Max gust of 26. If I record a gust near 30, I know the more open areas are seeing 40+.
MN Transplant
Looking at the DCA obs, the peak gusts were much earlier than suggested by the models. Transport of the winds aloft to the surface matters a lot.
SilentTalkie
In western Albemarle County, things got pretty windy last night between 10am to 1am. Good deal of transformer flashes, several trees down across roads taking out some utility poles. Our power came back on early morning but several still out this way. SlowerLowerDE
Winds were not to bad here. One medium branch down. Rain was 2.49 for the event. I wonder if any of those modeled high winds on the ocean verified? Lewes area was the precip jackpot with a bit more than the rest of lower DE.
