Sandy was okay on Parr's Ridge. I was working for Carroll County OEM at the time and there were a fair bit of tree into house calls and chimney fires. IAD had a 51/65 wind! DCA- 58 mph and BWI- 50 mph.

When I posted that same cam two hours ago the asphalt had just started to turn white. Looks like the plow has already been through there and it could perhaps use another pass. Only 44 here in Vienna. Oh, but for just 8-10 degrees colder...
Bob Chill
I have zero memory of the 4/16 wind event. Not even a fleeting thought of it. Lol. This event won't hit those numbers. Starting to get real now. Gusts in the 30's for sure. Just getting started too.

Just heard my first (probably small) tree branch snap with that last gust. To be honest, I was excited about the wind in this event but wasn’t picturing anything like massive tree falls or power outages. Our trees are really good to withstand winds with a substantial westerly component, especially after a weak-branch clearing event like the Derecho. 4/2/16, Sandy, Derecho— those are our three biggest wind events in the 2010’s. Only one of those caused massive power outages.
Cobalt
Don't remember the 4/16 event either. Last big wind event I can recall was a snow squall in Feb 2015. I believe Langley had something like 70 mph wind gust
Kmlwx
PEPCO outage map ticking up now. Last 15 minutes I've heard either large branches coming down in the woods or transformers. No big gusts yet but it does sound windier than earlier.
gymengineer
It was a big wind event with some damage and outages. Bob Chill
3k nam runs that area of heavy precip over the northern neck just to the east of 95 in md and drops up to 2" over a narrow path. Would be impressive if it verifies.

dailylurker
Starting to look and sound like a storm out there. Nearing 1.50" for the storm so far. Wind came howling through the woods about an hour ago. Radar still looks juicy for my location. I'm waiting for my tree damaging wind gust later on lol
