michsnowfreak
MARCH 2008 The snowiest March in modern history for metro-Detroits southern suburbs. I had a total of 26.7" of snow this month (had it NOT been a leap year and the 2/29 storm was on 3/1, it would have been 31.5"). The biggest storm was on the 4/5th when 10.3" fell, which was basically the 2nd 10" storm of the winter. Detroit Metro Airport officially had 21.0", good for 4th snowiest March on record. It also remained much colder than normal. In fact, January was the only warmer than normal month of the winter. 3-1-08- March dawns wintry 3-4-08...On the 3rd, a 6" snowpack vanished as temps neared 60, followed by a rapid temp drop and a coating of snow. This left mud and slush everywhere, as a major snowstorm moved in during the evening. Wild 24-hours! morning evening 3-5-08..digging out of 10.3" of snow, the storm included 3 rounds of thundersnow and hit my area hardest. Obviously, this was my favorite storm of the winter. cont......
