Been popped into a WWA until 6 lol, temps have actually risen here to 34 so no clue. Tulsa saying it might have to be extended into the overnight hours and could see some flurries or freezing drizzle. Supposed to get really cold tonight so I would expect it to be extended if its going to get as cold as predicted(23) with drizzle

Question for the vets out there. Is there a place that shows every model run of say the GFS or Euro that has ever come out? Or back 10-20 years, etc? Like, if I was wanting to find a particular prolific winter storm from my past and was curious what the models showed leading up to it at the time, is there anywhere I can access that?

I decided to go digging into the Tulsa NWS records for snowfall totals to see just how unprecedented our snow drought is.

I took 5 year intervals of each season's(July of year X-June of year Y-which for us is really just Nov-March) total snowfall. Here are my findings.

1950/1951 - 1954/1955- 48.3 in
1955/1956 - 1959/1960- 64 in
1960/1961 - 1964/1965- 32.4 in
1965/1966 - 1969/1970- 60.6 in
1970/1971 - 1974/1975- 37.6 in
1975/1976 - 1979/1980- 48.2 in
1980/1981 - 1984/1985- 34 in
1985/1986 - 1989/1990- 57.6 in
1990/1991 - 1994/1995- 41.7 in
1995/1996 - 1999/2000- 37.2 in
2000/2001 - 2004/2005- 55.1 in
2005/2006 - 2009/2010- 61 in
2010/2011 - 2014/2015- 52.4 in
2015/2016 - 2019/2020- 8.8 in

Before this most recent 5 year stretch we were averaging 48.47 inches of snow every 5 seasons.
We are currently sitting at just 8.8 inches of total snow these past 5 seasons and would have to get 39.67 inches over the next 3 months to hit average.

Our next closest 5 year low is back in the 1960's at 32.4 inches.

Tulsa's average snowfall is 9.69 inches per season. Assuming we hit that, we will still blow the 1960-1965 seasons' low record stretch out of the water by a 13.91 inch deficit.

Truly a Historic snow drought.

Jeez I knew it was bad but nothing that bad StormChazer, granted Im in fayetteville and probly not even at 8.8" over the last 5 years lol. Such sad pathetic snow times, I am already losing hope for this season again too. Lets all enjoy our warm boring christmas day coming up, hey I will probly get to wear shorts at least and even open windows for fresh air so that's a plus haha

I've been looking at similar records for here in NW AR and I don't see anything remotely close to this current snow drought.   Been going here since the 14-15 winter, our last decent one.  The last time we saw a snow greater than 2" was March 4, 2015, working toward 5 yrs now.  So, yes, unbelievable and very frustrating as as snow lover.  I'm not very hopeful for Jan and Feb at this point.

At least something to watch.   I was hoping this fall pattern would yield some good opportunities.

Never seems to happen. The atmosphere tends to 'flip' to the opposite look given time. If you have constant low pressure in one spot, the atmosphere will try to balance it out and there will be high pressure in that spot for a time, eventually it will flip again.

Makes sense, we just need that November pattern back.  JB used to say,  "the weather in November the winter will remember". LOLOLOL

I’m beginning to associate December warmth with the Christmas feels. It’s become a tradition.

Here’s to hoping for a big storm soon, though. We’re due.

Looking toward 2020, perhaps we could draft some legislation to turn Kansas into a giant lake so we can get some wicked lake effect action (no offense to any Kansas members; you’d be welcomed wholeheartedly).

Well, Kansas is so flat that it turns into a giant lake when it rains heavily. It's so confusing driving across Kansas seeing "impassable during high water" signs on the side of the road and there's not even a creek or ditch on the side of the road.
