madwx
Topped out at 91 here. This is the latest date in Madison history that 91 degrees has been reached. Let's see if we can make a run at it on Friday.
cyclone77
Impressive warmth today. As Hoosier pointed out MLI tagged 94, and DVN made 93. Hit 92 here with heat index temps up near 100. EDIT: Nice towers to the northwest on the horizon. Prefrontal trough is igniting an additional line of scattered storms.
Chambana
CMI officially topped 95. The record of 94 from 1891 is no more!
Hoosier
Today was the 8th 92+ degree high for Chicago to occur on/after September 20, and the warmest reading this late in the season since it reached 92 on October 1, 1971.

Hoosier
Mid 90s would be in play in most of northern/central IL if this is on the right track, as there would still be 2-3 hours of potential warming

Hoosier
I'm going to be a little bold and go with 95 at ORD tomorrow. Reasoning is that it was 92 today, and tomorrow will have a significantly warmer start, almost identical temps aloft and perhaps slightly deeper mixing. Barring a fly in the ointment, I am reasonably confident in mid 90s... whether it's 94, 95, 96.
UMB WX
Good luck on the call, Hoosier. Will be fun seeing how high the new ORD record will climb. I can't remember what 95 and humid feels like. or a snow storm for that matter.

Hoosier
For Chicago, the only 2 highs of 93+ after September 20 are that freak 99 on 9/29/53 and 94 on 10/6/63. So any high 93 or over would be really rare.
Hoosier
Still 81 at ORD at 1 am central. Pretty impressive.
Chicago Storm
Cloud debris definitely will be an issue today, with the chance of 90+ looking more and more unlikely.

Chicago Storm
Disagree. It looks to be on a decreasing trend around Chicago.Yea, good trends for now. Every push of cirrus erodes as it moves towards the metro area.As long as that continues 90 looks good, but 95 or anything around that looks unlikely still. Hoosier
87 at ORD. A lot of places rose 8-10 degrees from this point yesterday so if the sky situation doesn't deteriorate, mid 90s would still be reachable. One difference from yesterday is a weaker gradient, but this should not be enough to bring any lake cooling that far west. This setup is sort of counterintuitive to what you would expect to be more likely to produce mid 90s type heat so far north this late in the season... like, we don't have a strong low passing to the north resulting in stout southwesterly flow, but my call from last night was made with that in mind. UMB WX
92/59 ORD I'll take that DP. Jet engines scouring out the swamp ass. What a hot box ORD is. We made 80 at MKE Hot Box. MKE likes to shine on the tail end of heatwaves Going forward in to weekend we should Rocket up to close to 90 in the AM and then pray for lake breeze.
