Yeah I've been surprised how bullish both GSP and Blacksburg have been with this one. Guess we'll see if it pays off or not. Not impressed by the NAM/HRRR, at least not outside the favored higher elevations.

SnoJoe
Should start snowing soon. Temps are down to 32.8. The lack of enthusiasm for this storm is pathetic.

It's snowing pretty hard up here. It's coming Joe! Today has been amazing. Climbed into the upper 50's this afternoon, then had a thunderstorm, and now it's snowing. March has not disappointed. Hope you guys get a good one.

WeatherHawk
A bit over a half-inch here and estimate we'll pick up about 2 or 3 with the NWFS.
cold air aloft
It has been snowing at a steady rate intermittently in Maggie Valley at 29 degrees, but between the warm ground and March sun bleeding through at times, it has been hard to maintain much of it at this point. AirNelson39
NWFS doesn't do much for my location. You didn’t get much last Wednesday? Brad P said last night that the snow will pick up in intensity as the day goes on with the heavier stuff happening in the evening and he thinks General 4-5” with 5-8+ for the peaks. . nrgjeff
Happy for snow fans up high today! We are sending you some more from Tennessee. Couple of our sub-forum members report equal or greater results than last week. They are on the Upper Cumberland Plateau and over toward the Tri Cities. They had better diurnal timing for sticking snow overnight, but NC will still get the following: cyclonic northwest flow, winds gradually veering more perpendicular to the mountains, short waves in that flow, and near saturation up to the DGZ dendrite growth zone. Last couple weeks feel surprising after the February debacle, but at elevation March usually meets expectations if something is forecast. March offers more moisture (usually) and in these cases more instability (lapse rates) in the transition season. Enjoy!
designatedkyle
Turning into a really nice snowy day in Boone. Decent-sized flakes coming down at a good clip, better than the tiny flakes and snow pellet stuff we had earlier. Ground is covered. Wind picked up too so it feels really wintry walking around. Buckethead
The snow is blowing around like crazy but I have an average of 5" on the ground so far (averaged several measurements) with 4.75 on my snowboard. Intensity has picked up too with the wind. 19°/
BooneWX
Per radar, those bands to the NW look like they mean business. Sun angle is starting to become more bearable at this time of day, so maybe our best period of accum is on the way?
