Isn't it amazing.  Have close to a foot on the ground from both snows.

It sure is - and it’s still snowing. I think sugar has reported 15” since I’ve been here (and that doesn’t count what’s been falling this morning)

Even though things are starting to slack off a little I just had a squall that was as heavy as I've seen this year. It only lasted 10 minutes or so but had to lay down over a half inch. This has been a decent event.

Shouts to griteater for the heads up!

5-6 inches estimated on Seven Mile ridge (East Yancey County)

Looks like we ended up with just over 8.75” from this event.  That's the 2nd biggest snowfall of the season for me.

11/19/17: 1.25"
12/8-12/9/17: 11.25"
12/24/17: .5"
12/30-12/31/17: 2"
1/4/18: 1"
1/13/18: 2.25"
1/16-1/17/18: 3.25"
1/29-1/30/18: 3"
2/1-2/2/18: 1"
2/4-2/5/18: 1.5"
3/7-3/8/18: 6.5”
3/12/18: 2"
3/13-3-14/18: 8.75"

IMO I think this was the last event before October...but I've been wrong...remember it snowed on Earth Day in 2000...was cleaning a creek while it was snowing...great event...but I am ready for spring and getting the garden going...good luck everyone and I'm signing off...until the next time gentlemen :)

Anybody in the Boone area know where Ray gets his official measurements from? These numbers from this week are really low when compared to a lot of other reports from Boone. If he is using the airport, I totally understand why this is the case (further east). I feel like the measurement for Wednesday is a solid 2, to as much as 4 inches lower than what most areas around the city limits were reporting.

thats a darn good question.  my first thought was cocorahs, but it doesn't seem to match up to any boone cocorahs stations that i checked.  I always assumed the beech mountain one was freds, but not sure.

It doesn't make any sense to me at all. I live in the city limits and had 4 inches by 9:00 am on Wednesday. Finished with 7.5. I can't understand how someone only measured 4 at 1 pm, unless they were further east of Boone.

the only snow reports i see (almanac - snow totals) are beech, boone, asheville, sugar, and warrensville).  I suppose someone could ask on his facebook page, but i suspect that data is proprietary.
