I also like to use the Jackson Ky site for flow events. That radar is directly in the upstream of where our usual trajectory sets up. You can see the moisture flow from Cincinnati all the way to our foothills. Looks pretty healthy at the moment.

Much better orientation of the precip than we've had lately if I'm not mistaken. Coming in more form the NW as opposed to the W. Definitely think an inch or two is possible this evening. What did you measure in your area of Boone? Here on 105 we had an average of around 5.25. But as soon as you began getting closer to Vilas it was an extreme cut off in the accumulation. Eyeballing it I'd say it was a little over 5 as well!

Moonhowl
Here deep in the recesses of the valley; managed to eek out enough flakes for a deck dusting on the lee side of the house. There were some intense gusts rolling through overnight.

FlatLander48
Well, never made it back home to do an official measure, word from the family is just under 8 inches total including what fell last night. There was clearly more at my house than when I got to App Ski yesterday, which had some of the best skiing in a while.

nchighcountrywx
Rays thoughts for rest of the week... There's no rest for the weary until Thursday. Snow showers and flurries taper off this morning and we'll have a few breaks in the clouds this afternoon. However, a strong upper disturbance drops south tonight in the fast northwest flow. Snow showers develop this evening and continue into Wednesday afternoon. It will be "squally" at times. Accumulations will be in the 1"-3" range for most, but 3"-5" for primo locations (westward facing slopes above 4000'). Skies clear Wednesday night and Thursday is warmer, though still windy. From Ray's Weather Center: ...A potent upper level disturbance drops south tonight bringing another round of northwest flow snow showers beginning this evening. This will be one of the better northwest flow events of the winter with snow squalls and snow bands at times. When that happens there's always some winners and losers. The winners will be the higher, westward facing slopes nearest the TN border where 3"-5" will fall. Aside from any wildcard snow bands, the rest of us pick up 1"-3" before it ends Wednesday afternoon.... Storm totals here were about 2.5 including the flow last night. Low last night was 18.7 and has only warmed to 21.8 wind a stiff breeze. Maybe we can pick up a few inches tonight into tomorrow.
BooneWX
I love that the winter is going out with a bang! Still not gonna reach climo for snow, but it felt like a hard winter with the exception of that 2-3 week period in february. Not a bad winter in my books. I'd give it a B. Met1985
Yeah it looks like there will be bits and pieces of energy coming in starting with the northern mountain but then the central mountains get a significant push of energy tonight into tomorrow morning that should bring some decent totals for the area. Good luck fellas.

nrgjeff
March boundary layer likes to hold more moisture. Get some really cold air aloft, and the heavy snow showers go. Already started in West Virginia and East Kentucky. Cellular look on VIS is exactly what one likes to see. Night and morning snow showers will almost feel like the West.
