franklin NCwx
Sun is out now. We got over 5 inches at the house with lots of flooding and trees down.
SnoJoe
The last 2 hours of this system was intense. Picked up a little over 2 inches in an hour and a half for a total of 4.11. Flash flood warning until 9:30. A lot more thunder and lightning than I thought there would be also. Wind seems to have subsided some with some sun peeking through now. Pretty cool. Now, how about some cold and snow. Make it happen Met!
BlueRidgeFolklore
Station at the airport last updated at 3:00p with 3.99 inches of rain. My guess is it ended closer to 5. That's a ton of rain.

The cold is coming, hopefully the snow is not too far behind. Impressive rainfall totals from most locals in WNC. We needed it.
PisgahNCWeather
4.7 today and 9.2 for the month. Wow it is suddenly wet. Let's hope we can keep it up and winter will arrive soon.
Tacoma
4.5 inches here in West Asheville, sure wish this kind of moisture would come thru when its cold enough to snow.
Blue_Ridge_Escarpment
3.79 here today. 12.71 for the month. Oh yeah October is supposed to be the driest month of the year....
Blue_Ridge_Escarpment
Looks like a potential tornado touched down in Hickory near the airport. Lots of damage at L.P. frans stadium home of hickory crawdads.

Met1985
A nice cold foggy morning with a temp of 34 degrees. That's about 8 degrees below the forecast. I'll take it!
Met1985
I notices the Asheville airport was running 10 inches above average for the year. I have to think that some other parts or several other parts in WNC could be some 15 to 20 inhces above normal for rainfall currently. Impressive especially after last year. Met1985
The models today still look great for our first flakes next Sunday. Very deep trough with upper level moisture coming in behind a strong cold front. Very winter like trough here. Also man o man is it going to get cold. I mean probably low 20s cold. We need it and i'm glad to see it.
FLweather
Good luck on y'alls first flakes. Hope it comes to fruition. No kidding though about the cold. Don't know if it's GFS and 18z at that. But it brings the 850 0c line into the FL panhandle. Just have to watch and see. But the 18z is the first time I've seen the 850 line in FL. If that continues then upper teens may not be out of the question for the apps. Going to be a shocker compared to recently.
SnoJoe
Now, this is more like it... already down to 35.7 and with a NW flow, inversion shouldn't be a problem. Let's kill some bugs tonight!!

Met1985
Some may see a stray flake this evening but the models look great for some upslope effect Saturday night through Sunday morning with very cold temps relatively speaking. Wide spread freeze tonight.
SnowNiner
Hey Mountain folk! I'm going to be visiting water rock knob over the weekend and I see there may be some rain/snow showers nearby. NWS is calling for rain right now and 34 in Waynesville. What's the chance of me seeing some snow up near the top of water rock knob, 6,000 ft+? Waynesville is about 2500 elevation I think. Will being up toward the top of the balsams make a big difference in P-type? Trying to plan ahead if I have to worry about accumulating snow or not.
