Met1985
Moderate to heavy snow now. Everything is covered. Roads, cars, and grass are all covered. Pretty decent size flakes too.
Silas Lang
The HRRR is pretty awesome for this area. Especially when considering we would be looking at much higher ratios than 10 to 1.

Silas Lang
Coming down good now. You can hear it. Almost sounds like sleet. Little hard flakes. Dusting status achieved.
BretWx
Finally coming down a bit here. Headed to bed, wake around 4AM. Hoping for a nice surprise (aka enough snow on the ground so that I can work from home :))

wncsnow
I think you guys are going to do ok 1 to 3 generally for AVL, haywood, Mcdowell. Maybe more for Eastern McDowell 2 to 4 for Henderson co over to Rutherford. Locally more in prime upslope areas
BretWx
Probably an inch or so on the ground now - still coming down nicely. We'll see how long the precip stays over the area. Looks to be building a bit, so maybe a couple of hours.
Buckethead
2.75" on the ground and 11.9°. That puts me at 24.5" on the season so far. Not bad for my first winter here.
BretWx
Made it to the office in Fletcher. Roads are fine. Heavy snow at the moment. Hoping this back end keeps creeping.
franklin NCwx
Got about 1 1/2 inches. Down to just flurries now.
BretWx
Looks like we'll be wrapping up w/ the snow here in about 45 minutes. Expected a little later, but oh well! Nice little event. Hate to say it, but I am looking forward to sunny & near 60 degrees this weekend!
ncjoaquin
Have about 2 and a 1/4 inches. Still snowing, but like Brett said, probably not for long. Finishing with a flourish though. May make a run at 3 inches. Considering GSP had a forecast of .2 inches at one time yesterday, I will take it.

Probably the heaviest I've seen this morning. Going to go walk in it while it lasts!
Met1985
Yeah I have about 2.5 inches, maybe a bit more. The wind really did a number last night. Very cold with a Temp of 11 degrees. The roads in Haywood are horrible even with pre salt.

BooneWX
Eyeballing it, we look to have picked up maybe an inch and a half or two inches, with moderate snow still falling. Not bad. Kinda let down that January didn't produce a big snow for us, but at least we live in an area that does very very well in February, and through mid-march. Here's to hoping the warm up is short lived and we get our turn again in February!
BooneWX
Also, maybe I'm crazy, but the very last two frames of the radar I'm looking at, appear to show some back building.
Met1985
Watch for the upslope to kick in a bit. We are already seeing more snow work back in.
cold air aloft
Wound up with 3.6 inches at the house in Maggie. Just awesome! I'm glad this looks like an event where almost everyone cashes in and gets something. Best of luck today to our friends in the Piedmont and down East! Buckethead
Yeah the wind is really kicking up now. The sun is peeking out between the clouds but the top of the bald is becoming obscurred...think it'll amount to much? 27 minutes ago, Met1985 said: Watch for the upslope to kick in a bit.
