If this makes Landfall in the Keys, it could likely go down as one of the top 3 strongest Canes to hit the united states. Ponder that for a moment. I will bring the list back out after posting it yesterday.

Rank Hurricane Season Landfall pressure
1 "Labor Day" 1935 892 mbar (hPa)
2 Camille 1969 900 mbar (hPa)
3 Katrina 2005 920 mbar (hPa)
4 Andrew 1992 922 mbar (hPa)
5 "Indianola" 1886 925 mbar (hPa)
6 "Florida Keys" 1919 927 mbar (hPa)
7 "Okeechobee" 1928 929 mbar (hPa)
8 "Great Miami" 1926 930 mbar (hPa)
9 Donna 1960 930 mbar (hPa)
10 Carla 1961 931 mbar (hPa)

Don't forget even if it hits Tortuga it's still hitting key west.

Yea, the gfs had it threatening Camille/Labor Day on the 12z run (mid 890's). I think 200-300mb shear from the SW will limit it at some point, but through 18z tomorrow, you would think there is no bottom to this thing. Tampa better pray to god this sneaks into the coastline south of there. Holy s### if it doesn't. Some of the keys will never be the same, which sadness me as I was there w/ my Fiance in April and they're my favorite place on earth.

I think it may be hard pressed to make LF as a cat 4 anywhere north of the keys.

Anyone else noticing the strange thing the eye is doing on satellite?

trochoidal wobbles... It's like spinning a coin. Only other time i've seen it was during wilma. Will likely only last until an ERC. Usually only happens during bouts of intense RIC w/ a small pinhole eye. Very strange to see on Satellite.

I've noticed that as well.  Looks like the eye is shrinking as well.  Will leave to the experts on what is going on...

Probably just clearing out the eye (at the upper levels) from the earlier eyewall reconstruction...(or quasi replacement)
