Was not thinking that would have much interference with Irma that far away...It is referred to as a cutoff upper level low pressure system, because it gets cut off, or left behind, by the jet stream. You can see below how the jet stream has lifted north but the low pressure still sits there, with no strong mechanism to move it out.
