CoastalWx
Ok Lurker...it looks like we are stepping down. There will be some periods of milder weather obviously, maybe mid month or so...but I don't see any issues with the overall hemispheric look for now. That would destroy record low maxes. Cheap midnight high potential?

Yeah absolutely...it's pretty close on this run, but verbatim we'd definitely get counterfeited. The timing could change obviously as we get closer. Damage In Tolland
You’d have to think there’s some snow showers and squalls that will make their way into the entire region given the magnitude of the cold and the warm lakes. First flakes pretty likely this week
powderfreak
Great GFS run for Friday...a round of snow squalls followed by some obscene cold. Thats like 15-20F in the valleys on Friday afternoon...with even sub-zero at the summits?!

First flakes pretty likely this week Vort energy is a bit too far north for my liking...so we get dried out really quickly as the front goes through....def can't rule out a stray flurry from a streamer picked up by the front, but I'd like to see the vort trend south. If it does, we'll have a better chance for scattered snow showers.

Typhoon Tip
We started seeing this behavior in the autumn of 2014 ... circa this time. Blue cold would waft across the region and then roll-out 24 to 30 hours later and we'd pop back into the 50s. By the time early January arrived, we had logged some three or four occurrences or more where we bounced around synoptically with wild temp changing.
