amarshall
Some may know I work for an oyster farm in Barnstable. We've had one rainfall closure in the past 10 years (>>5" in 24 hrs) , we're facing our 3rd closure of the summer today. Getting close now. No kidding. If that train of moisture continues on its path, ENE gets quite we Raining again up here, too. Though nothing like what's happening in the Atlantic and E.LI now. powderfreak
Had to run Shaws for some groceries just now and there's some awesome low level fog out there. Clear skies and stars above with only some CAA clouds stuck on the ridgelines above 3,000ft in both the east and west sides of town. The fog was very low and variable, about the height of a car off the ground and smooth like waves. Very cool stuff to be that very thin, but to see such dense fog see sitting across the farm land and wide open flats in town, and you can tell the radiational processes occurred quickly after another round of rain showers/t-storms/squalls this afternoon. With CAA though, the only real radiational cooling is within the bottom 10-15 feet of the atmosphere....where the fog has formed as temps immediately reached the dew point once the skies cleared. 52F at 8pm off a high of 67F. We don't have much else in common, so it's cool to see we share a passion for extreme fog.
