Some were throwing around the August 1893 analog for storms with this kind of track hitting the East Coast.

Looks like things are trending twords between Hatteras and Bermuda with a weaker WAR. It will still be a monster and as we saw with Bill in 08 can still cause major coastal damage.

Obviously just today's thoughts based on the morning runs. Anything from Central America to east of Bermuda still on the table.

Chilly morning coming up for the LI Pine Barrens on Saturday if the winds can drop off enough.

Low of 40.2F this morning. So close. :(

I got pretty close too, hoping for tonight. Did you take a look at the Mt Washington obs and cams? This morning was mid 20s, winds at 68mph and the first snow of the season on the ground. They actually have winter weather advisories out tonight for many spots around the northern Whites and Greens above (I think) 2k feet. My kids are at Lyndon State and they said it was silly cold heading to class this morning.

Oh...What's this I hear about asteroid viewing tonight?

39 degrees at Morristown NJ.  Westhampton may have already hit the upper 30s.  Down to 36 in NE PA.

This looks like one of the earliest 30's of the season for FOK. The previous earliest I could find with the shorter period of records there is 9-7-00.

Thanks for posting this. I couldn't remember the last time it was this cold over here this early, and it looks like there's a good reason for that. Certainly a fall feel out there.

Wow, was 39 the official low at FOK, Chris?

Also is the Morristown MMU ASOS functioning?  It's been recording 39 degrees for the past three hours?

NE PA low was 36 degrees, could've been frost around there.

Below freezing 31 at Saranac Lake.

What time to Mo-town hit 36? I'm 10 miles west; I didn't think I hit the 30s. It was 46 at 6am.

Granted it's 50 right now with overcast skies; pretty raw day to start the holiday weekend.

Morristown?  Still at 39.  The 36 was from a station in NE PA around 2000' elevation.

Very rare to see record lows around the area in recent years with the EWR and LGA record lows today.

...RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE SET AT NEWARK NJ...

A RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE OF 49 DEGREES WAS SET AT NEWARK NJ
TODAY. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 51 SET IN 1934.
...RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE TIED AT LAGUARDIA NY...

A RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE OF 56 DEGREES WAS SET AT LAGUARDIA NY
TODAY. THIS TIES THE OLD RECORD OF 56 SET IN 1967.
