Next 8 days still up at +7degs or 71degs.---now with 4 near normal days included.

Noticed that 92 at JFK,  a good  surrogate for the beach area here in CI where I was.   When slight sea breeze quit for a while, it felt 90ish.   Good thing sun does not even reach an elevation of 50 degrees anymore---down from 73 degrees on June 22.9 is

It was 91.4 here in SW Nassau County on Sunday

Second 90+ degree day in a row up here today (91). I'm pulling for the heat wave certification tomorrow, but could be a narrow miss.

Same here, hit 91 on both Sunday and Monday. The fog wasn’t as thick as it’s been other mornings here, the sun has already broken through so we shall see.

I noticed the same thing with the fog. This morning was also my warmest low of the stretch by multiple degrees so it looks like we'll have a good jumping point. As long as we have to run the AC in the last week of September, might as well pull out all the stops and go maximum HHH.

I realize that we are looking at more above normal temps this fall but since averages continue to drop I’m hoping after tomorrow we’ll be done with the ac for the season.

...Record Late Season Heat Numbers...

Late September 2017 has seen near to record warmth across a
sizable portion of the Midwest, including northern Illinois and
northwest Indiana. Following are climatological numbers to put
this ongoing late season heat into perspective.

**************************************************************
CHICAGO

Records date back to 1871.

Date 2017 High Record High 2017 Low Record Warm Minimum
--------------------------------------------------------------
9/20 92* 91 (1931) 62 73 (1931)

* = Record

2017 has seen the latest 90+ since 1998 (Sept 26).

Latest 90+ degree reading on record: Oct 6, 1963 (94)
Latest 95+ degree reading on record: Sept 29, 1953 (99)

There has never been a heat wave of this duration and magnitude
this late in the season in Chicago. Chicago has never recorded
6 consecutive days with high temperatures 92F+ this late in the
year. The previous latest streak of 4+ days in a row of 92F+
was Sept 16-19, 1955. In fact, the current streak of 6 days in a
row with highs of 92F+ is only the 3rd time in the past 50 years
that Chicago has seen such a stretch of heat. The other 2 times,
both during the heart of summer, were in infamously hot summers
of 2012 and 1988.

In addition, this is the latest Chicago has ever recorded 3 days
in a row of mid 90s (94F+). The previous record for latest 3+ day
streak of mid 90s was back on Sept 13-15, 1927 and also the same
dates in 1939.

Saturday`s high temperature of 95F tied for the hottest day of
2017. This sets a record for the latest in the year that the
hottest temperature of the year was recorded in Chicago.
Previously, the latest in the year that the annual high
temperature occurred was Sept 14 in 1893, 1915, and 1927.

The daily average temperature on Sept 21 was 83 degrees, which
ties for the warmest daily temperature on record after the
midpoint of Sept (Sept 21, 1931).

Hopefully we can continue our winter warmth, but snowy streak that we've been on....

It's an interesting trend. I thought the pool was finished after that September cool shot,  but this heat has warmed it up and I think we can get a couple more swims in.

Took the boys next door to our neighbors for a swim (me too) they had to run the heat to get it a bit warmer, but still, swimming on 9/24-impressive.

Closing mine up on Thursday.  Probably will take a dip in it today.  With the August and early September cool shots, I though I was done 2 weeks ago.  Now it warmed back up to just about 80.  It was down to 71 early this month.

Yeah our pool is around 77 which isn't too bad.  During the warmer periods it hit 80+.  Despite getting good sun, it takes awhile to warm up. Definitely nice to get in a little more, especially after a year where it got below normal use.

better warm now than warm in December...the warmest October on record was in 1947...this came after one of the coldest last weeks of September and the coldest Oct. 1st on record...December 1947 is legendary...enso for 47-48 was a weak negative at the beginning to a weak positive near the end before dropping off again...
