Great stats from the Uncle!  To paint the White Christmas picture for the N and W Philly burbs see below - we have a little better chance than Philadelphia with a 25% chance of a White Christmas - see some of the detailed stats below by decade - enjoy!

Here in Chester County PA we average a White Christmas (at least 1" of snow on the ground on Christmas day) 1 of every 4 years. We have had 30 White Christmases over the last 123 years of Chester County Records. The first being in 1902 with 3" on the ground and the last time being 2012 with 2" on the ground.

The snowiest Christmas was 1966 with 25" of snow on the ground.

White Christmases by decade Snowiest to least

1960's = 6 WCs (including 4 in a row from 1960 to 1963)

2009's - 3 WCs / 1990's - 3 /1980's - 3/ 1909's - 3/ 1919's - 3 / 1970's - 2 /1950's - 2 / 1940's - 2/ 1930's - 1 / 1920's - 1

Great stuff Uncle W, thanks for sharing! I was born in Sept 1966 and grew up listening to stories about the snowstorm on my first Christmas. Hoping for a repeat one of these years!

I was 17 in 1966 and in September that year the weather person ( I forgot his name ) on CBS channel 2 NY predicted a white Christmas for NYC...It either was the greatest long range forecast for it's time or dumb luck?...The ole farmers almanac predicted an old fashion winter for 66-67...
