CapturedNature
I found a couple of tapes I recorded back in 1993 of local coverage of the "Storm of Century" or so-called "Superstorm" from March 13-14, 1993 and I thought I would share. I thought they would be of interest with the 25th anniversary coming up in March. I've previous posted videos I shot driving around after the storm on 3/14/1993. The first one is the start of the NBC Nightly News with coverage of the storm. I think this is from March, 13, 1993: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T201ARLTcwI The next one Channel 3 or WFSB in Hartford with some of their local coverage. Of note is that they show the old Bradley NWS radar which was located atop Soapstone Mountain in Somers, CT. The equipment is still there but it's obviously not used anymore. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5B6DI4YC270 Here's about 45 minutes from The Weather Channel recorded later in the storm. What interesting here is it includes the local forecast and that this is before they started losing their focus on weather. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2qH-9CNJwk I have a couple of others that I will eventually post but the audio is so out of sync. I'm not sure why my DVD recorder does that but I need to run it through another program and try to sync up the audio. Enjoy!
