Round Hill WX
The start of August looks nice if you are not looking for big heat. Here's the 5-day average for the first 10 days of August.

I was kinda excited a week or 2 ago when consensus agreed that the back was breaking on the h5 pattern that brought the heat earlier this month. No signs of that returning for the next 1-2 weeks and beyond (hopefully). We'll still get hot sticky days of course but long stretches of no relief aren't showing up on anything. Looks like another unusually strong summer cold front is on tap later this week. That could produce something. Worst case is no storms but another 2-3 day stretch of low humidity. Looks like a win either way.
Eskimo Joe
I'm good for another big heat wave. This summer has been tame.
mattie g
It's always so much noticeably warmer in DC than it is at home - particularly on mornings like these - which serves to enhance the stale piss smell along 7th Street and around the Verizon Center. Nothing like the smell of fermenting urine on a warm summer morning. Last time I rode through DC on my bike all I could smell was skunks going down the street. Which is weird because I didn't know DC had a skunk problem. Maybe it was something else....
Mrs.J
Right under that decent storm over here in Frederick. Thunder, lightning and pouring rain. :0 Edit: Wind and pea sized hail now.

RickinBaltimore
Been pouring down rain since about 4:55 here in Woodlawn. Radar shows a cell right over top here almost nothing else in Maryland.
adelphi_sky
Raining over me right now. Thought we were going to escape today without any rain. My wife just watered the plants. lol
Mrs.J
Ok my observations on the storm that hit my location. At 2:09pm only a few minutes after the storm began I experienced the winds pick up and pea sized hail. 0.97" of rain fell in a 15-20 min. period. I then started hearing reports from friends about power poles and wires down just to my north along Ballenger Creek Pike. More photos of damage started showing up on FB. The photos I am posting are not mine but show the wind damage.
gymengineer
The slow moving cell over DC right now is causing an extended rain delay at the Citi Open tennis tournament. (Players ranked 7-11 in the world are all here on the men's side-- this is the best field so far at this tournament .) The last match last night ended at around 1:30 am, and this delay sets up another late night ahead.

Skunk problem only arose in the last couple years, from what I can tell. Seems that recent ordnance allowing skunks to be raised as in-home pets has meant that people have felt compelled to let them roam as outdoor skunks. Does help cover the odor of stale excrement, so I guess that's not a bad thing.
Stormpc
Sneaky hot yesterday, 93.1 at the house. Looks like low 90s a few more days. Need a rogue pop-up. Have to put fertilizer down but see no natural time frame ahead to do it.

Definitely Baltimore, and recent trends have looked better for DC, but activity should be somewhat more scattered the further southwest one goes. The last HRRR even has some activity this evening in northern VA.
