It's a super frustrating place to live if you like summer rain and storms. I'm actually shocked about the 00 I thought we would at least get some showers. Probably about .5" here on 120th street. 97% of LI stayed dry today while everyone else saw at least some rain. Happens often. Currently 79 degrees. That's why the activity was concentrated to the north and west of NYC. Was actually up in the Poconos today was able to watch these all develop. Actually found a place along the NE ext. of the PA Tpke (MP 97.4) where a microburst occurred yesterday. Trees with 8" plus diameter were split in half. Real interesting stuff. Grew up on LI so I understand your pain on a day like today. On the other hand have had only a fraction of the KU events you guys have had in the past 10 - 15 years. I hate being so negative but it's truly frustrating. Let's see if we can make up for it all in one event, first with the warm front Monday. As bluewave has alluded to those can be blockbusters on the island. After that it's hope for something tropical or await the strataform season. We have gone black or close to it in august on the island in the past....

The shore summer drought is a fairly common occurrence. Lawns here in Long Beach are turning brown and there was maybe a light shower here today as the complex collapsed. Not at the beach today. It's super hot here at Jones Beach currently with an at times dead wind. The warm water this time of year offers little relief. lets see if there is any convection firing in the next few hours to get an idea of what should develope and where
