winterwx21
RGEM has been giving our area a decent amount of rain from the tropical system, and I see 12z NAM just joined in as well.

SnoSki14
Should be quite a raw, breezy day tomorrow especially for the coast. Problems would increase if the storm ends up stronger or closer to the coast. More widespread effects than usual due to strong pressure gradient and extratropical transition. Almost like a tropical nor'easter.

SnoSki14
Wouldn't be surprised to see it get tucked in a bit more or end up stronger, recent NAO shift (- to +) supports a coastal.

bluewave
21 hours ago, Stormlover74 said: If it even becomes Irma It will still produce a hurricane swell for the local beaches even it never gets named. http://www.opc.ncep.noaa.gov/shtml/NFDMIMATN.shtml regardless of whether the system is declared a tropical or post- tropical cyclone, very hazardous conditions will develop over many sections of the offshore waters today through Wed into Wed night before the system departs the region on Thu with improving conditions by that time. Hurricane force winds still appear likely as the system passes near or just north of the gulf stream, over NE NT2 offshore waters, on Wed. There is some chance for these warnings needing to be expanded into adjacent zones, and this potential will be addressed in future OPC forecasts. Also, locally heavy showers and thunderstorms will occur near the intensifying cyclone as it crosses the region over the next 48 hours. The latest lightning density data indicates a few heavy thunderstorms occurring off the South and North Carolina coasts with additional activity further north over central NT2 waters as well. Locally very gusty winds and very rough seas will accompany the heavier thunderstorms.
NJwx85
The 00z Euro was very close to being an all out soaker, it kicks East at the last second after dumping 0.50"+ in most areas. Although I don't really feel right calling 3-4" a soaker after what's been going on down in TX/LA.
