gravitylover
At 3:30am it was White rain and 28*. At 5:30 it was rain @ 30*. Now it's light snow hiding all of the ice @ 31*. Can't even measure this crap but .2 would be right judging by the stick the finger in test. I bet the roads coming off my hill are a pleasure. ag3
The warm layer was at 950mb and 975mb. Every model had it.

The whole storm was one giant screw zone. It looks wonderful outside but from a purely perspective, I've only added a few tenths after about 4 am. I think the inverted trough that was universally modeled for around daybreak never really got going, so the storm was basically over before we ever saw any of the anticipated 1"/hr rates. gravitylover
I had really low expectations for this one anyway as far as accumulations go but it is turning out to be fairly high impact due to the ice layer underneath. Yup visually it's not bad, the crunchy stuff from overnight gave the wet snow this morning a nice surface to bond to so everything is coated in a nice .5" layer of snow. White Gorilla
This seems to be the year of 3-6, 4-8 inchers for the interior. Was expecting better rates this morning, but pretty light stuff. Look at all the dry air and holes in the radar especially over Western Massachusetts where they were in the bullseye by models. Oh well, we melt it all the next two weeks and start over again for February. It is what it is. The snow scene outside regardless of actual amounts is really beautiful and I am going to just enjoy and focus on that.
snywx
Absolutely beautiful outside! I expected to receive 6"+ but didn't expect to be in the jackpot zone. I knew areas SE of me wouldn't do well but also didn't expect areas to my NE to underperform.
BxEngine
The freezing drizzle before the snow made the trees look incredible, love these types of snow events. That layer of ice underneath everything has made walking an interesting adventure though lol

My kids are living in the dorms at DCC and classes have been cancelled today. I guess that's what happens when you have 10k students that commute by car. Pitmaster15
Maybe about 2 inches here in the Burg. Which is actually surprising considering at 4am there was nothing but mixed precip falling. Sounds like it may be awhile before get another chance for snow. But we still have plenty of winter to go.
White Gorilla
Beautiful snow today no complaints from me even if less than hoped. Perfect winter wonderland scene with the sticky snow. Just love it.. Too bad we can't build on this with more snow. Wondering when in February the next snowy day will arrive.

I was happy to top half a foot, biggest storm of the season for me thus far. Also the duration of snow for 30 hours or so, even if it was really light yesterday, was cool. JerseyWx
@rgwp96 I remeasured later on and got 2.1", which makes sense since when I took the first observation it continued to snow for a couple of hours (albeit lightly). Have to watch out for that layer of ice under everything too, very slick. Definitely disappointed with the totals, however like others have said, the scenery afterwords was nice. I'm amazed that we still haven't had a 6"+ snowfall yet.

Juliancolton
6.4" on .47" liquid here. Ratios definitely overperformed locally... that was needed to compensate for the lack of moisture relative to all models except maybe the GFS.
gravitylover
Got home and measured 2". Not bad but would've been nice to see more like 4-5. I don't want to wait until next month for another shot at 6+ but it appears that's what it's going to be.
