The WC has said that this is now the strongest storm in the Atlantic basin in recorded history.  I presume they are referring to the wind speed of 180 mph and not the pressure reading, but they didn't say.

Well...  "Atlantic basin outside of the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico "  ...keep that in mind

yeah the "Basin" is considered the whole way... Those are 'sections'  ...   

New England = SNE, CNE, and NNE, but it's all just New England - think of it that way

it always strikes me ...in a weird way...  we're looking at these satellite images of an insidious eye with it's rampart of serrated cogs whirling head long at Antigua and Barbuda island like that and someone walking, talking, ... breathing ...carrying about their island agenda, has no idea they are going to be dead in 6 hours.  there's something strangely prophetic about that experience.
