Rtd208
Looks like the heaviest rain and storms are off to my south, just some lighter rain here so far.
LongBeachSurfFreak
Just like I feared the best storms split the city. I remember reading years back that the urban heat island can act to disrupt storms. This certainly appears to be an example and one of many I can remember, anyone have any further insight? Eduardo
So far, I'm a victim of the split and storms have formed to my east. Hopefully, still plenty of time though.

Rtd208
Right now it looks like anyone north of the Monmouth/Mercer County line is in the screw zone with the exception of some light/moderate rain.
Cyg
South/Central Jersey wins again! Looks my my shore house is going to get blasted by that storm down there.

We have had a few drops in Manhattan and that's it. The airmass has stabilized big time too. Temps are way down. I'm not throwing in the towel for some strato type moderate rain this evening but 3" and flash flooding just isn't going to happen now

psv88
Really wild how the storms are exploding again central suffolk out east, remarkable. About 10 miles to my east/ne is getting slammed. Still 0.00 in the bucket here, although its probably closer to 0.01...
psv88
Edit: 0.01 now. Look at Fire Island getting slammed, wow. Very impressive event for Central- Eastern Suffolk County

Backdoor front is now into eastern CT as well, once that moves through, I'd think we're done.
bkviking
In Port Jefferson temp down to 73 after quite a robust storm. Wind was the best part bc it made the firehose rains blow in nearly sideways fashion. Odd, I lost my fan/AC and thankfully restart of car cured that. Guy next to me left his pickup with windows open. The winds were basically offshore today, not really any strong southerly push to stabilize everything. This was one of the better setups for coastal areas you'll ever see before about 815-8/30 when the water is usually warm enough that even a south wind does not matter. S flow I think transports stable air from further out in the ocean while SW flow is not over the water quite as long of a time.
