Tornado Warning

6:39 AM EDT, 6/24,expires 7:15 AM EDT, 6/24

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...  southeastern Mercer County in central New Jersey...  northern Monmouth County in central New Jersey...  southeastern Middlesex County in northern New Jersey...

* until 715 am EDT

* at 639 am EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing both  tornadoes and extensive straight line wind damage were located  along a line extending from near yorketown to Windsor, moving east  at 35 mph.

 Hazard... tornado. 

 Source... radar indicated rotation. 

 Impact... flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without   shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.   Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree   damage is likely. 

* Locations impacted include...  Long Branch, Middletown, Marlboro, Manalapan, Tinton Falls,  Holmdel, Red Bank, Hightstown, Highlands, Cranbury, Roosevelt,  Windsor, East Freehold, Robertsville, Clearbrook park, yorketown,  Twin Rivers, Navesink, Lincroft and Morganville.  Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take cover now! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a Mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.

This line of thunderstorms is capable of producing tornadoes and widespread significant wind damage. Do not wait to see or hear the tornado. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Just one of those mornings.

The radar signature of this feature has since weakened.  Based upon this screenshot if a tornado did occur then the area that would have been hit would be in the Hamilton Square - Hightstown area near or along Rte's 130 and 33.  Hopefully no funnel actually touched down.

The velocity wasn't terribly high, if something actually touched down I think it would've been an EF0 at best. Still, I hope nothing touched down, at least not in a populated area.

There will be no more rain for the day! It's clearing out. That was a nice rainstorm and it was great sleeping weather!

There is still a chance of an additional shower or thunderstorm this afternoon.
