NJwx85
New York State is awful when it comes to taxes, especially Nassau, Rockland, Westchester and Orange Counties. New Jersey isn't much better but at least you can find areas with lower taxes.

bluewave
You can find homes and condos with under 5K annual property taxes on Long island if you do your homework. These are some of the ones below. http://www.newsday.com/classifieds/real-estate/if-you-want-a-long-island-home-with-low-property-taxes-less-than-5-000-annually-1.13077701

I believe Nassau is one of the highest taxed counties in the country if not the highest. My sisters in-laws live in Brookville and they pay $65000 a year in taxes. It's a nice house on a nice piece of property but that's still outrageous.

ForestHillWx
Thankfully I own an old home, on old farm land. Mine are a manageable $8k. However, there are few estates in the $75k-$100k tax range that help with the local school system! $30k on an acre for a 2,500 sq. ft. house is absurd, there is no justification for that in my opinion. Side note...64 degrees at 3:00 when I stopped home to let the dogs out... Even with the clouds/rain/back door helping, I'm impressed.

From Wikipedia: Tunica gained national attention for its deprived neighborhood known as "Sugar Ditch Alley", named for the open sewer located there.[4] Its fortunes have improved since development of a gambling resort area nearby. While population growth has occurred mostly outside Tunica, the major casinos employ numerous locals. They attract visitors from nearby Memphis, Tennessee, West Memphis, Arkansas and all over the Southeastern United States. Tunica is a town in and the county seat of Tunica County, Mississippi, near the Mississippi River. Until the early 1990s, the rural town was one of the most impoverished places in the United States, and its population has declined since the peak in 1970. psv88
Further, In July 2015, the Mississippi Board of Education requested that Governor Phil Bryant take over the Tunica County School District. The Board stated that the school district was violating 22 of 31 state accrediting standards. The Board was critical both of Tunica County's elected superintendent, Stephen Chandler, and of the district's special education program. Bryant signed an emergency declaration enabling the Mississippi Department of Education to take over the school district.[3]

ForestHillWx
Just had an F-22 fly over the house. I know POTUS is at the golf course down the hill. I'm assuming the area is restricted air space. Very impressive jet, glad it's one of ours.
WeatherFeen2000
Nobody wants to admit it but summer is rolling by quick. This is good weather as long as it's not humid. Look for a crystal clear Sunday with highs in the high 80's to low 90's tomorrow. The rest of the week looks hot but drier and not so humid. This will be the hottest week of the year! F-22 has seen almost no action and are a huge waste of money. Not that the F-35 hasn't had its own issues. The crazy part is that the Navy still uses F-15s... Well, the F-35 is just entering production, while F-22 production was ended in Pres Obama's first term. so the F-35 should be more advanced. Sadly neither is much use against ambushes or IEDs, Separately, surely you meant F-18s, the Navy never used F-15s, they are not carrier compatible at all.
