Talk about the short term nature of the coming heat wave continues, but CFS has no BN 5-day period now until July 11.   Of course not all 90's, but the normal highs are 80-84 during this 35 day stretch.

it's been a long time since NYC last saw upper 90's in June...it probably won't get that hot this year but who knows for sure...Yesterday was one of the coolest June days on record with a max/min of 58/51...this rivals years like 1962, 1982, 2003 for gloomy June days...1955 had one around this date but that Summer was brutally hot...1982 had 11 days 90 or higher and they all came within a three week period in July...

Coolest lows in NYC are usually around 50 in Central Park for the month of June.

I am sure it is much chiller up your way.

Yeah but when it only reaches the upper 40s to around 50 for a high in June like it did yesterday well thats just special lol.

Next week may turn out to be the hottest week of June. 0z guidance shifted back again to more of a trough near the Great Lakes after the heat next week. It may  be tough to generate extended 90's heat here if the major summer ridge sets up near the West Coast like some seasonal forecast tools show.

Good. Still can't quite understand why people would want 30+ straight days of 90 degrees+ or something longer than a week. I agree that it will be nice to get some heat next week but to have it week after week after week with no breaks is too much. If you want that move to Florida or the Caribbean

That's how I feel. As I said, though, it has been so rainy that a week of sun will be welcome even with heat.

Same as people who want constant cold and snow all winter.  Or who love rain.  There are those who like heat, which, on an extended basis, is as extreme as other conditions around here that excites people.  Snow, rain, cold and heat lovers can't just up and move

I believe the 2008 heat wave was the hottest of the summer...

I remember that one well.  I was in Hartford for work the week of that heat wave and even up there it was brutal.  A hotel worker was handing out water bottles while we waited for our shuttle bus that took us to the office complex for our meetings.

The GFS shows a deliciously stormy pattern returning towards the end of next week and then a Gulf of Mexico tropical threat around day 10.

enjoy it for the next 6 hrs...the 18z will probably show something entire different.  Bad model once past 4-5 days

Hopefully we get some dry and clear periods for the upcoming new moon cycle. Milky Way photography season has been a bust thus far with the seemingly constant unsettled wx.
