It's such garbage - I mean can't Upton do some trimming around there?

Yeah. They should cut down those damn trees and lay down some airport tarmac. That will get those hot obs needed. If you live anywhere around here with grass and trees predominantly, this is not an oppressive airmass at all. Tomorrow will probably be the only uncomfortable day of the 3 in the shade because of the increased dews pre FROPA.

it was canceled and moved to tonight

About 5 minutes after liftoff, the rocket will deploy 10 soft-drink-size canisters, which will release barium, strontium and cupric-oxide vapor to form blue-green and red artificial clouds.

"These clouds, or vapor tracers, allow scientists on the ground to visually track particle motions in space," NASA officials wrote in a mission update. "The clouds may be visible along the mid-Atlantic coastline from New York to North Carolina."

We probably need to have the 850's reach 21C or greater to have a shot at 100 around the area. Last few years we had numerous days in the 18-20 range like today but have come up short. Hard to believe the last 100 was in July 2013.

A good rule for the local hotspots is 850 temp +17C

We just need the ridge out west to retrograde back to N or NE of Hawaii to get into a more sustained heat pattern like we saw in those two months.

Wouldn't warming EC SST's also tend to promote an expanded WAR, which might keep the trough over the lakes?

Jul 25 2016 was closest.   You wonder if we can crack the century mark this summer, maybe later in Aigust.
