NJwx85
Also looks like a lot of places in Western New England had over 4". If you're going to downplay a storm just because it didn't drop the most rain in your backyard then I don't know what to tell you.
forkyfork
there were only two reports of 2" or greater in the okx cwa https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&issuedby=OKX&product=PNS&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1&highlight=off

This storm was highly anomalous for many reasons. Storm total rainfall wasn't one of them.

psv88
This argument is dumb. It was a run of the mill rainstorm. Period.

Period. i disagree if it was all snow we would have 18 inches or more.... even among snowstorms their are moderate storms and heavy storms.. so this was not a run of the mill rainstorm.. it was more than that... forkyfork
you can't use the "if it were winter this would have been 3 feet of snow" argument because the atmosphere is much warmer in may vs winter and can hold more moisture

Nothing normal about 45 degrees at 3PM and pouring rain in this area in Mid May.

So if I get 20" of snow and you get 6" from the same storm does that make it run of the mill?
JerseyWx
When you consider just our area, the NYC metro, it really wasn't that impressive of a storm IMHO. The only thing I'll remember, like others have said, is the cold. Stuck in the 40's almost the entire event. Despite that, we've had cool and rainy days in May before, such as last year. Irishmick9
Lot of ifs being thrown around. It was a boring rainstorm. Even yesterday was more exciting IMO and yesterday wasn't that exciting.
nycwinter
well if you has a snowstorm that started before dawn and ended around midnight i would find that very exciting
dmillz25
Why the **** are we arguing about a damn May nor'easter? The NAO blocking was impressive in it's own right. **** a rainstorm lol. Now I wonder if this is the beginning of a -NAO regime
