Since 2000, such extreme precipitation events have been about 70% more common than the were prior to 2000. Newark has received 3.05" and Teterboro has picked up 3.21" of precipitation. ASOS sites all the way out to suffolk recorded well over an inch of rain. This wasnt a localized cell which dumped on the boros...CNJ-NENJ out to suffolk had flooding rains. Bust by you maybe.
