The EPS doesn't have a strong -NAO anytime soon following this drop. It goes positive this week with the warm up and returns closer to neutral beyond that. All our big -NAO drops in recent years have been transient.

Also, the -NAO is less correlated to cool/cold and storminess as we head towards summer.  We've had some big summer time -NAO's with big time heat ridges here.

The big weather story this week is how quickly we are going to go from highs in the 50's today to the potential first 90's of the season.  I believe this may be the first time since 1996 for such a large temperature rise between May 13-20.

EURO likes Wed/Thurs for a +2SD high temp.    Not sure what 1SD is around here at this time of the year.    Daily high records need to be about +3.5---+4.0SDs.    So I will guess a SD is 7 degs.,  so 73+14 or 87 is doable by the EURO.     It quickly returns to normal.

Meanwhile the GFS still AN but unsettled for the holiday period, unfortunately.

Another night in the 30s incoming up here.. Its nonstop now

Yeah, we've had way more mornings in the 30's so far this month than we did in the last couple weeks of April lol.  Pretty amazing.  Of course you're getting even colder than I am.  This heat is going to be a shock to say the least.

Temps steadily on the rise this morning, currently 59, should be a pretty nice day with temperatures topping out in the mid to upper 60's.

Maybe some storms later??

Seems like it.  Mount Holly tosses around the idea and mentions that atmospheric conditions are actually pretty good.
