I remember that April 1976 heatwave really well. Remember thinking it would be a hot summer but it never happened.

Yeah, I got that NWS statement, looks like it will be just north of the Bx though. At least the strong part of it. I bet some light rain/drizzle get to maybe 233rd St.  80% of the boro stays dry.  Increasing clouds though now and 91.

both years 1976 and 2002 got really cool around this time but 2002 became a hot summer while 1976 was cooler with only one more heat wave with tops of 94 in August...

90, 92, 90 here. If it occurred in summer it'd be fairly low impact; dew points weren't high either. However, for mid May in rural suburbia north of the 40th parallel, even a low end heat wave is extremely rare. My past two nights were 71 and 72 which I find most impressive. 70+ lows are high for me in summer.
