I'm sure AGW has a hand in it.... I would also assume that urbanization factors in as well.

I notice that trees bud quicker in downtown Detroit than 30 miles SW of the city, just outside the airport region.

Japan is the most built up country on earth. That trend has been very consistent since the mid to early 1800's.

This is the most famous location for blossoms. It's in an urban jungle.
