...FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR CENTRAL WAKE COUNTY...

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Wake County in central North Carolina...

* Until 1100 AM EDT

* At 621 AM EDT, major flooding was occurring along Crabtree creek
  at Glenwood Avenue, Anderson Drive, and Wake Forest Road. Law
  enforcement has reported numerous additional road closures in
  Raleigh and surrounding areas due to flooding. Flooding will
  worsen during the rush hour commute this morning as additional
  heavy rain tracks into Wake county from the east.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Raleigh, Cary, Garner, Zebulon, Rdu International, Apex, Holly
  Springs, Morrisville, Knightdale and Wendell.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

This is an extremely dangerous and life-threatening situation. Do
not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to
flooding or under an evacuation order.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

1.85" in the rain gauge Monday morning, 0.48 this morning for a grand total 2.33" with a light mist falling in Chapin SC, nearly dead center of the SC drought map.  Didn't get as much as some but not too shabby.

And just like that the sun is out, crazy how the back edge clears out, with the ULL aloft if we get enough sun to get the surface heated we should see showers and storms fire back up later this afternoon....the NAM3k does this right over my area. Nothing like a few torrential downpours to add to the rain totals if they come to pass.

That last flood warning for Raleigh was a "PDS" Flood Warning, crazy images on WRAL......its a safe bet that many many places set daily rainfall and probably monthly rainfall records with this event across NC.

At 829 AM EDT, major flooding continues in Wake County along
Crabtree creek at Glenwood Avenue, Anderson Drive, and Wake Forest
Road. There are numerous roads closed throughout the city of Raleigh
and surrounding areas. Water rises on Crabtree Creek have slowed in
the past hour as rainfall rates have decreased.  However, another
area of moderate to heavy rain is approaching the city and an
additional inch of rainfall will prolong the flooding through at
least midday.

This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for the Central Wake County,
including the city of Raleigh. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS
SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!


Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Raleigh, Cary, Garner, Zebulon, Rdu International, Apex, Holly
Springs, Morrisville, Knightdale and Wendell.
