nzucker
Cool day here, 48F in Hunts Point and quite breezy at times. Heating still working hard to keep the house warm. Spring has been slow to come this season indeed.

The more rural areas near the coast are later but both areas are experiencing an expansion of their growing seasons. Rooftop gardening/AG is pretty big now in places like Brooklyn. Maybe but there are no freezes showing up for NYC in the guidance right now. Most of the spring cold was focused into the March 10-22 period. Yeah, we could see 30's again. But I am not sure that NYC will be able to dip below 35 with the trough out west and firehose Pac Jet returning. They were way ahead in terms of blooming compared to today, April 8th. Definitely a slower start.

Wow, that's pretty early compared to here. I noticed everyone's grass is coming in green already too. Must be the rain, because usually it takes awhile to get going. Now I'm interested in tracking the last freeze, or maybe frost. Curious if we'll see 32° here again, I'm thinking that'll be hard, probably just some mid-to-upper 30s. psv88
38 this morning. We haven't been at or below freezing since March 24. Low for April thus far is 33 on April 3. Don't have records for April 2016, but in April 2015 the low was also 33.

psv88
Interesting, avg March temp was 36.6, avg February temp was 37.8, January 35.7, December 36.3. Was actually a rather uniform temp spread (in terms of actual temps) since December 1. April has seen a concrete warm-up in actual temps, at 46.4 average, putting an end to the 4 month fall. uncle W
it's hard to get a nice sunny day with no wind in the Spring...usually a stiff sea breeze kills those days unless you live well away from the Ocean...the fall has more quiet warm days with hardly any wind... We just missed out on accumulating snow, which hit the Cape.
