There is a much more notable difference today between the climate of the big cities and the rural areas near the cities.

The more rural areas near the coast  are later but both areas are experiencing an expansion of their growing seasons. Rooftop gardening/AG is pretty big now in places like Brooklyn.

Maybe but there are no freezes showing up for NYC in the guidance right now. Most of the spring cold was focused into the March 10-22 period.

the ao is forecast to dip negative before the month ends...If it does we have a chance for one more cold shot into the 30's for the city...

Yeah, we could see 30's again. But I am not sure that NYC will be able to dip below 35 with the trough out west and firehose Pac Jet returning.

Spring is later than last year out this way; closer to average I guess. The forsythia is just starting to bloom in the lower elevations.

Yeah, I have some pictures from last year of a couple small trees on April 1st.  They were way ahead in terms of blooming compared to today, April 8th.  Definitely a slower start.

Had my first flowers of spring here on the South Shore near the end of March beginning of April.

Wow, that's pretty early compared to here.  I noticed everyone's grass is coming in green already too.  Must be the rain, because usually it takes awhile to get going.

Now I'm interested in tracking the last freeze, or maybe frost.  Curious if we'll see 32° here again, I'm thinking that'll be hard, probably just some mid-to-upper 30s.

My first flowers right on the South Shore started to appear near the end of March and beginning of April. I just took the photo below a few minutes ago. Haven't had a freezing day since March 24th here.

Interesting, avg March temp was 36.6, avg February temp was 37.8, January 35.7, December 36.3.

Was actually a rather uniform temp spread (in terms of actual temps) since December 1.

April has seen a concrete warm-up in actual temps, at 46.4 average, putting an end to the 4 month fall.

Nice shot.   Nothing like that here yet.  I think the stretch of 60's and 70's we're about to have will really bring things out.

Thanks, the spring bloom should arrive for you with the big warm up this week.

Not really Brian there's a stiff wind out there that goes right through you. It feels like a cold November day!

I just thought that walking outside...the wind has been ripping here in Hunts Point for the last 24 hours. Most stations got into the 30s last night. Chilly feel.

Wish it were November.

Wasn't there a big arctic shot in early April last year when temps stayed in the 30s all day and went into the 20s at night?  We just missed out on accumulating snow, which hit the Cape.

Those are gorgeous daffodils.  I have pictures of snow encrusted daffodils from the day of the April 2003 snowstorm (yesterday was the anniversary.)
