As we enter into the late period of the month and we are officially into spring time, things look to bounce around as the norm goes, around this time of the year. From a high of 70 today to a high of 50 tomorrow. Got to love spring in the mountains.

Parallel 20º difference here but +10º.

little to early to talk spring in the mtns.

Lol we've been talking about spring since January. We're actually late to the party.

Got to see some light from lightning bouncing off the clouds last night but that's as much excitement as I got, not a drop of rain to be seen up this way.

My house hasn't shook that many times in one night in about 4 years. Lots of rain for my area, though I haven't checked the gauges at the house yet.

One of the more reliable folks here at work said they had 4.5" in their guage this morning. There was a decent sized rock slide on the parkway near Deep Gap.

Both the 12z GFS and euro continue a very cold look for early April. No doubt it would have implications on plants and trees and still looks to bring mountain snow along the boarder counties.

BRING IT. ALL THE SNOW.

Over 4" in 24 hours. Loads of thunder until 5 a.m. today. Heavy rain on I-40 last night near Hickory and Morganton. Really great to see, but not good for driving.

Made this short video today of my swollen creek. Haven't seen this in a while.

Nice video marvel. So thankful for the recent rains and storms. What a year makes. Also today was a 10 out of 10. Absolutely perfect.

The GFS and euro still look great for some late season cold and snow .

From GSP's HWO. I'll take it for the first week of April.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

..Wednesday...Severe weather possible. A strong cold front will
approach western North Carolina late Wednesday. Scattered to
numerous thunderstorms are expected to develop along and ahead of the
front Wednesday afternoon and evening. Conditions will be favorable
for severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds, large
hail, and even isolated tornadoes. Localized flash flooding will
also be possible.
..Thursday...High winds and winter weather possible. In the wake of
the cold front, strong west to northwest winds will bring much
colder air to the mountains. Winds may become strong enough from
Thursday into Thursday night to blow down trees and power lines.
Meanwhile, snow showers are expected across the high elevations
Thursday and Thursday night. At least light accumulations of snow
will be possible, mainly at elevations above 3500 feet near the
Tennessee border.
..Friday...Winter weather possible. Snow showers are expected to
gradually taper off across the high elevations late in the week.
..Saturday...No hazardous weather is expected at this time.
..Sunday...No hazardous weather is expected at this time.
..Monday...No hazardous weather is expected at this time.

Morristown is a little more bullish.

From their SWS:

A strong cold front will move across area Wednesday night with
colder air spilling into the southern Appalachians. The cold air
will allow the rain showers to change to snow across the higher
elevations Thursday morning. Snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches
are possible at elevations at or above 4000 feet, and 1 to 4
inches between 2500 and 4000 feet, by Thursday evening. Heavier
amounts possible across the highest elevations.

Man this thing could unload on the higher elevations Thursday into Friday. NAM 3km showing 4"-8" above 4500'. Looks like Boone could also see some accumulation. That being said, it is going to take some heavy rates to get anything to stick. Most on here will at least see a few flurries, but elevation will be key. Also, soil temps are a few degrees lower at high elevations compared to the valleys so that will play into accumulation. I am getting pretty excited for this one. Chasing tomorrow in NE AL and N GA then I'll be chasing again Thursday night in the upper elevations. Love getting these late season snow surprises.
