A friend of mine and I started working on this a little over a year ago.  There's still a few tweaks that need to be made but overall, its finished.  ISP's data record has been extended back to September 1963.

Thanks, how far back can you extend the data for JFK and LGA? I know JFK has some incomplete data going back to the 50s.  Some interesting snowfall totals- Feb 1961 and Feb 1969 were both 20"+ snowstorms at LGA and JFK.

My friend is working on pushing both of those back as far as possible.  LGA may be done in a month or two. No idea about JFK. He's also working on cleaning up Central Park's stuff.  I am working on the Battery, though that will get a lower priority since its not actively used for NWS products.

awesome!

16" of snow 4/6/82!

ISP 26" 2/6-7/1978.  18" three weeks before that.

Most of the snowfalls in the early 2000's are missing.  And they form the basis for the current official ISP snow climo.  I might have mentioned that it is wrong once or twice in the past

Check out Southampton December 1904.  Maximum snow depth that month was 48".

Ray, thanks again to you and your friend for doing this.  I've been working with the data a little.  See this thread:

If you want any of my worksheets, just ask.

There was a 30 inch snowfall that missed farther west.  Possibly an inverted trough of some sort?  It was a snowy month in NYC, but not like that.  57.5" for the month at Southampton..

I think someone scanned in a newspaper article about that awhile back.  30" snowfall for the month as far west as Newark but none of the 50"+ totals lol

Wasn't there something like a -22 low out in the Hamptons (either 1934 or 1967.)

I thought the Feb 1978 snowstorm was 18" at ISP- same as NYC ;-)
