Chinook
I hope this is helpful for studying the synoptic properties of this storm. This week's blizzard was an amazing storm with a not-quite-perfect phasing. I think the storm had similarities to the Superstorm of '93. This recent blizzard was a Miller-B storm with a strong influence from the subtropical jet. The Superstorm of '93 was a true Miller-A, as the initial low pressure developed in the Gulf of Mexico, and it never had a low pressure in the Midwest. I wonder if the NESIS value of this storm may be 7.0, when finally analyzed. That is up to NOAA or perhaps Kocin and Uccellini's next book (if there is one.)
