I just got in from plowing my driveway and shoveling pathways. This stuff is like concrete here after the sleet and freezing rain. I got stuck turning around in the yard. It packed down like rock and ended up beaching my truck. So glad I gave up commercial plowing, this is the stuff that gets you stuck easy.

Anyway, based on what I measured earlier plus the snow we got after, I had around 13" before it got packed down.

Yeah I saw 13" too . Might be close to another inch since 2:30

I think Boston proper and right at the coast got porked from boundary layer. But just inland made near a foot. That started to look that way yesterday. Otherwise Boston proper would have done 12" easily. But low pressure near NYC will furnace the layers below 850 easily.

I'm wondering if the early dryslot hurt them...maybe left behind some ugly dry layers that took a little bit to overcome...because even the areas that got a foot pretty close to BOS had a lot of 32-33F snow. Just speculating. What did BOS actually end up with?

Yeah it's odd because RAP soundings seemed pretty saturated most of the morning, but snowgrowth was meh not great, except for that band around 11:45-12:30

And soundings for 18z-20z (I posted 18z earlier) looked plenty saturated and cold with excellent lift, but it seemed like the plug was pulled at 2pm. In fact the only layer that looked too warm on the soundings for much of the storm before 3-4pm was like 1000-950 mb.

Anyway I gotta check out for a while. Thanks for all your comments this past week!

That's pretty high. I've only got 12.2 here east of the river.  N Granby reported 18 on the PNS also but BDL was only 12.7

those northern ct totals on the pns, some of them, seem suspect

I have 11 just north of the border and that is depth, no six hour measuring so perhaps it could be 12 but certainly no more

Stationary band of 3-5" per hour in upstate NY.  There's the jack.

Southern Fulton-Northern Herkimer-Hamilton-Schoharie-Southern
Herkimer-Northern Fulton-Montgomery-Northern Warren-
535 PM EDT TUE MAR 14 2017

...AN AREA OF HEAVY SNOW WILL AFFECT HAMILTON...WEST CENTRAL
WARREN...FULTON...SCHOHARIE...HERKIMER AND MONTGOMERY COUNTIES...

At 529 PM EDT, an intense band of snow was located 30 miles east and
west of a line extending from near Lake Eaton Campground to near
South Brookfield.

The heavy snow rates of 3 to 5 inches can be expected in this nearly
stationary snow band.

Winds in excess of 30 mph are possible with this area of heavy snow.

Wow pretty hard to do this up here.

Plattsburgh, NY Airport ASOS has had 2 straight hours of less than 1/4sm visibility.  17F.  Pure winter with 30kt winds and chills below zero.

They've probably picked up 8" in those 2 hours given what that band's history has been.

I just saw that, but I think it's a mistake from someone reporting 21" in Middletown, Orange County, NY.  I suggested the correction on Upton's FB page.

Agree, that 21 is the nws measurement from Orange County for sure.
