RDM
Steady here NW of Vienna and building. Grass is white and hard surfaces turning white. Treated roads are still just wet, but starting to whiten also in spots. Darn that brine... same as liquid rust.
Scarlet Pimpernel
Just now, yoda said: I would take that and run... if it was correct Just saw that on 00z HRRR, 4.8" for DC at 07z when it appears we flip to sleet. Snow falling here in Chevy Chase/Bethesda area. Grass and cars coated. Maybe close to 0.2" I would estimate. Ties for 3rd biggest event of the year, wooo hooo! With 4 events total and biggest one was 1.7"!
nj2va
00z HRRR looks pretty awesome for DC before the changeover. Snow changes to sleet between 2 and 3 am. Sleetfest overnight.
ErinInTheSky
Snow here is much lighter than radar suggests in Gaithersburg. Very wet. Ice is accumulating though.

jviper
I guess all the salt brine has been washed away. The 270 cams look like motorboats zipping around http://chart.maryland.gov/trafficcameras/index.php# 32.4F now in Gaithersburg
cae
The low-angle BWI base radars didn't seem to be picking up on the snow in my area. Maybe becasue Baltimore City is directly between the radar and Towson... If you're in this area, the Andrews 1.00 degree elevation seems to work well. You'd think I would have figured this out earlier.
Bob Chill
This is definitely not 10:1 snowfall. DC might get a half inch liquid before the flip but I would say 3-4" at best.

Scarlet Pimpernel
Anyone know offhand if the ptype on Pivotal WX is the dominant type or if they consider it all precip? Appears they adjust the snow ratio to reflect sleet, but it shows a big increase in snow/sleet accum. though it is clear sleet has been falling awhile by 10z. Plus sleet line looks awfully far west. Thinking much of that is snow and sleet mix perhaps.
