Pretty amazing storm for WNY considering we never got into the heavy banding from the coastal.  This reminds me of a storm 5-7 years ago that backed in from the North Atlantic and BUF ended up with about 20" of lake effect/enhancement over a couple days.

I think your talking about Jan 2011... I remember it pounding snow during the Bills v Colts game. Think Niagara Falls landed up with like 30".

Just a few pics for the thread from Liverpool. Yeah I'd say 3/4-1"/hr right now and should pick up in earnest once winds alignbout out of the NW- WNW but still accumulating, lol.

Most of the meso's (what's up with the Buffalo meso site?) show a pronounced maxima over extreme W. Onondaga county and E. Cayuga Co....so not sure if we get the goods....that being said...steady, moderate snow in our area is fine with me!

This is nuts I can't even believe I'm saying this but we've picked up 5.3" of new snow in the last 2 hours...!! New storm total here is 24.5" and it's still absolutely ripping outside!!!

You can't really top this, 2ft of snow and topping off with 2"/hr+ rates.Man oh man..

IDC what those meso's say as this is the exact same set-up from November but more progressive so I'll stick to my guns and say an additional 6-12 for us through tonight!

Nah, winds are definitely more northerly....we may get another 6-12....but the jackpot (for the next 18 hours) will be just to our NW/W....

Think the NWS is a little late to the party

such amounts should generally bring storm totals up to
around a foot in most places. Due to areas of lake and/or orographic
enhancement...higher storm totals of 1-2 feet will likely be focused
along the Chautauqua Ridge southeast of Lake Erie...with the greatest
overall totals (of right around 2 feet) expected to run along and a bit
inland from the south shore of Lake Ontario...as well as the higher
terrain east of Lake Ontario. Meanwhile...the lowest overall amounts
will be found near the Pennsylvania line and in portions of the Buffalo
metro area...where total accumulations will run a little under a foot

BUF is usually pretty solid for the western counties, but I have no idea why they keep insisting that total storm snowfall for most of the area will be less than a foot. They're reporting more outside their office right now, and everywhere else I've been from North Buffalo through the Northtowns has seen at least 16".

We had over two more inches at my house just from when I started snow blowing to when I left for work, less than 90 minutes.

Ugh thats a fact.  Sorry to all for my outburst!

To be fair, you were holed up in Schenectady in a blizzard, what else are you going to do? I'm glad you didn't wake up half covered in a drift outside the Rivers Casino reeking of smoke and cheap liquor. ;)

Finished just shy of two feet here, so I'm very happy. Heaviest snowfall for me since VDay 2007. Those to my West did even better, but that's fine by me. Before this past February it had been two years since my last warning event.
