Syrmax
Just walked to a liquor store in Schenectady cuz it looks like the bars near me may be shutdown tonight. Moderate snow, vis is prob near 1/4-1/2 mile. If you told me there was 18" on ground here I'd believe it. Have to walk in streets. Fortunately the only traffic now is plows. rochesterdave
I know its kinda silly to watch but 18z Nam still puts down another 1" qpf from roc to syr. With 2" from syr to Utica. Wow.

DeltaT13
Just got home, getting ready to head back out. Took three measurements around the yard. Very shocked to see we only have about 5 inches so far?! Quite deceiving. Lets keep it rolling
CNY-WXFREAK
If our snow growth would higher just a bit we'd have 18" already thats how heavy its been coming down but this just isn't doing it but I'm still content with whats occuring as when the LE kicks in, then we'll see the ratio's increase accordingly! WxNoob
Just measured 11.5 out back. Looking at the NAM seems like it doesnt stop snowing until 42-43 hours from now. Unreal!
BGM Blizzard
The band that has been sitting from the Dacks thru Utica-Norwich-Binghamton is now starting to pivot east on this end of the band. Getting in on heavier returns with the band that was extending from SYR vicinity to east Ithaca. Thinking this may be the last of the solid rates as soon as this band pivots through and off to the east, with just light snow and showers thereafter. You folks further north toward LO are only in the first half of this event, long way to go for ya'll!

GuitarFreak
22" and it's still coming down hard. We've been sitting under this heavy band for the past couple hours now, it's insane.

I like what i see on west half of lake. Lets see if that can move into Rochester. Getting frustrated with the lulls. But this has been fun. More to come! Stash
I am guessing around 18" or so now, but I'm do for another measurement soon. What's even more incredible is KALB has recorded 10 straight hours of S+. Hasn't verified blizzard conditions, and won't, but impressive nonetheless. http://w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KALB.html
CNY-WXFREAK
Im very happy for the ppl who cashed in with this one as we've been due for one and we finally got one that will breaks 24hr snow records for instance in Binghamton as that is awesome! CNY-WXFREAK
I don't know why these models are spitting out so much precip here in the Cuse cause it just doesn't seem like its adding up as it usually does. I'm letting the snow growth ruin this event, so I will stop talking about it now, but man if these flakes were just a tad bit bigger, we'd have amounts like Utica and KBGM! CNY-WXFREAK
Very similar to 93' temp wise but definitely not snowfall wise here in the Cuse. 2-3"/hr with temps in the teens is not a March kind of day, lol!

Go figure Have to disagree...we wouldn't have been crushed....we were under pretty light returns most of the day....yes the flake size was a tad small, but the reason we have 10" and not 25" is MUCH more a figment of us not being in heavy snow... ...You've lived in Lake Effect zones too long!!! CNY-WXFREAK
Absolutely insane. Look at this sounding from Syracuse for right now. The aggregates, from this sounding, should be nice sized because all the ingredients are there. Great Omega, intersecting the snow growth region completely and yet, we continue to see sand, lol, I love it. There always has to be something to taint. Were even at -8 at H850 which supposedly is the best temp for aggregate formation, lol! I'm done, as I will enjoy this event nonetheless.

Not all snowflakes are quarter sized!! Oh I understand what your saying George but even when pretty strong returns came through we still has pea sized flakes. I'm trying to figure out why its happening even as heavier returns are overhead just like the incoming ones to our ENE, if they make it. Maybe I haven't looked as much when the heavier returns were overhead but whatever, I'm good cause as we transition to LE, they will change accordingly, then we will get crushed
