Up to the very end the GFS, RGEM, CMC and HRRR were advertising a heavy (1'+) front end dump for NYC, with the NAM, UKMET and Euro showing a quick changeover. In the end the latter models won out. It wasn't that impressive to start, as the flake size is really small. It is getting better as the heavier part of the band comes over my house. Last time it happened was my freshman year in February 2011; the storm ended up being a bust and when we got a 16" storm later that year the administration opened campus at 10:00 AM despite knee-deep snow on all the sidewalks. I see a bit of a dry slot racing up through the Mid-Hudson, hopefully that stops before reaching here. Just went out to measure again, and its a little over a foot!
