rochesterdave
The track and moisture look better. Wait for the high res maps. I81 should do better than numbers it's spitting out.
CNY-WXFREAK
I mean it stays tucked almost to Sandy Hook NJ then heads ENE?? just a weird solution as what mechanism is making this head ene with a H500 like it has? NNE yeah I can see but ENE, nah not buying it.
rochesterdave
The 700 heads straight north through eastern ny. Heaviest snow under or just west of it.
BGM Blizzard
The 12k para version that is supposed to become the new NAM this week paints a much different picture in C NY with double the QPF output than that of the current 12k.

My point exactly. I could tell by its structure and precip conveyor it was gonna be big. Awesome
CNY-WXFREAK
But thanks anyways. So that's the new Nam as of this Wednesday?
rochesterdave
That 1.8 in ksyr ought to be good for 2 1/2 feet
Gravity Wave
The NAM is still jumping the low around off the Jersey coast; CFI issues have been significant so far with this storm.
BGM Blizzard
Ah okay, I'll leave it up and keep that in mind going forward. Its the new NAM, but I only saw in the NE thread that it was going live this Wednesday, so not sure if that is right or not. But seeing the differences between it and the current NAM, might be reason why it is being upgraded lol, hopefully it is more accurate.
rochesterdave
Now after getting all fluffed up... watch the GFS go OTS. Lol
CNY-WXFREAK
That doesn't even include the wraparound moisture that goes into Thursday. Awesome, for once we can all rejoice all the way to the coast as well. What an expansive system and if that piece of energy wasn't detached from the rest of the energy, it would of went straight across SNE but that piece allowed it to escape quicker but if that changes look out me thinks, lol! rochesterdave
700 heights go north over ENY/ VT. I forget who taught me but the heavy stuff is usually just north or west of it. I'm gonna be watching these maps and not just QPF.

BGM Blizzard
Here are the best 2 frames of synoptic on the 12km Para. The southshore over to the SYR metro area get many 3-hr periods of .1-.25 QPF of wrap-around enhanced snows following these 2 frames... hence the 1.3-1.8 total QPF from ROC east. Thats what I figured but if this thing can tuck just a bit more say into the city then head ENE, man that would be Epic for our area as a whole not just the Cuse. Thats a period of straight rain for RH- and areas in SE MASS so it did tick west by quite a bit cause it was never supposed to rain in Tauton for instance or plymouth and points S&E. On top of this, the Nam initialized to weak with the SW dropping out of the Northern stream as its 2-4mb's to weak upon initialization.
Gravity Wave
RGEM is west with the surface low, but the precip field is much smaller and more concentrated than on the NAM. I think track is more important at this point.
